Are 12″ PowerBooks/MacBooks Pro No More?
I’m just doing a little free thinking here, so let me know what you think.
Since MacBooks Pro were announced, we’ve been waiting for the next announcement. First were the 15″, then a little later, we’re met with the 17″. We’re still awaiting a 12″ to round out the family, right? Instead the next thing is the MacBook in a 13.3″ flavor only.
The MacBook specs are pretty impressive. With the exception of the graphics card which is onboard and shares memory with the system, it’s a pretty impressive $1100 Core Duo notebook. Some might say it’s nearly on par with many of the specs of the bigger brother MacBooks Pro. I’m just talking here, pay no mind to me.
So then there’s the graphic of the MacBook Family. The 13.3″ flow nicely into the 15″ and 17″ methinks. So does this draw a line in the sand? Do we have a clear cut differentiation between the Consumer line (13.3″ MacBook) and the Prosumer line (15″ and 17″ MacBooks Pro) now? It’s looking more and more that way to me. I’m doubtful we’ll be seeing a lesser screen-sized MacBook Pro down the road.
