Waterfield Backpack for Apple Vision Pro review: geographical transportation

Apple Vision Pro Backpack Review
Waterfield’s Backpack is designed to carry Apple Vision Pro safely and discreetly. When I first tested the Apple Vision Pro Travel Case, two thoughts jumped out at me: big and ostentatious. It was like I had painted a target in downtown Nashville saying, “Please rob me.” Waterfield had some unique ideas for storing and transporting Apple Vision Pro, which aren’t found anywhere else on the market. The $419 Backpack for Apple Vision Pro is a simple, classic-looking bag. The bag has a two-layered structure similar to camera bags. The top half has a thick layer that is fastened in place. It contains storage for miscellaneous items and a 16″ computer. The bottom half is a removable hammock that is also fastened into place. The Apple Vision Pro is suspended in this hammock in the bag to provide extra protection. Backpack for Apple Vision Pro Review: A hammock and padding shields the headsetIt’s a different strategy than the Waterfield Shield Case, which is a compact container the size of a lunchbox. I still love the Shield Case and believe it is a better option than Apple or most other options. The Backpack is a different product. In the Shield Case review, I even argued that such a product might exist. Both have different uses and are suitable for my needs. The Apple Vision Pro Shield Case works well for long trips that require a lot of packing, particularly when paired with the Air Porter Backpack. The Backpack for Apple Vision Pro works better for short trips and quick travel. You might mistake the Backpack Apple Vision Pro as a standard laptop case. It’s designed well, but not in a way to shout “I’m carrying $3,500 worth of computing ski goggles and accessories.” Backpack for Apple Vision Pro Review: waterproof zippers and black canvasSure, a white backpack can attract thieves, but at least it doesn’t advertise its contents. The waterproof zippers and ballistic nylon interior make this bag look good. The lack of a water bottle holder is the biggest external miss. This was probably done to maintain a clean look, but it’s not ideal for a back pack. There are only 2 compartments – one for the Apple Vision Pro, and one for all other items. Top compartment When you open the top half of your bag, you’ll find a simple compartment that only has one zipper pocket. The back panel can hold a 16″ MacBook Pro or, in my case a 13″ iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard. Backpack for Apple Vision Pro Review: Storage for a MacBook & AccessoriesThe zipper pocket is large enough to hold the Magic Trackpad, or a small notebook. There are no other pockets or sleeves. However, there is a strange central slot. Three pockets are located on the front of the laptop sleeves. The middle slot is perfect for a Magic Keyboard, while the side slots are extremely thin. The smaller side slots could fit a tripod, but they run the entire depth of the bag. If you drop an Apple Pencil, or other small items, you won’t be able reach it to retrieve it. These small holes would have been more useful if they had a stitch or pen holders. I don’t know why they extend to the full depth of this bag. Two compartments in a bag that is otherwise well thought out? It’s odd. The upper compartment is quite spacious. I was able fit two battery packs and a PlayStation DualSense Controller, a BackBone One and the new Beats Pill without any problems. Bottom compartment When you open the bottom compartment there is a space for the Apple Vision Pro. It is suspended in a hammock. Small accessory bags cushion and stabilize the Apple Vision Pro backpack. Small accessory bags are placed on each side to provide extra storage. A hatbox is located behind the Apple Vision Pro eyepieces. It can be used to store chargers, extra cushions and prescription inserts. The headband does not need to be removed to fit in the Backpack, unlike the Shield Case. The Dual Loop or Solo Knit Band can be left attached. The hammock and the center shelf are separate and removable pieces. The interior of the bag is left hollow when the hammock and center shelf are removed. The bottom compartment has a small pouch on the outer side for the cable and battery pack. The battery pack slides into the bottom compartment and is held in by a clasp. Waterfield Backpack review for Apple Vision Pro – easy to transport After publishing my Shield Case review Waterfield contacted me to let me know that the “all-in one shoulder bag” described in the review was actually being produced. I was eager to see how they implemented a backpack form-factor. Backpack for Apple Vision Pro Review: Packed with TechThe company did not disappoint with its custom features and attention detail. It’s much more pleasant to carry my iPad and Apple Vision Pro in a backpack than to have them blatantly displayed on my person. A backpack with a traditional style is ideal for those who need to transport Apple Vision Pro on a daily basis. Apple’s Travel Case was too big for everyday use. Even Waterfield’s Air Porter Backpack or Shield Case was too large. You can fit all the things you need to work with Apple Vision Pro like a MacBook Pro or battery pack. The shoulder straps are wide and comfortable. There’s a passthrough for the suitcase handle to be used with luggage. Waterfield continues to offer multiple small bags in exchange for a larger bag. The two small bags by the Apple Vision Pro fit perfectly for my travel cables and chargers. Backpack for Apple Vision Pro Review: No water bottle storage isn’t ideal. The biggest omission would have to be the absence of a side water bottle holder. It’s not clear why they decided to leave it out, other than to keep the sleekness of its form factor. It is a great first edition. I hope Waterfield continues its experiments with the Apple Vision Pro in its bags and accessories. Waterfield Backpack Review for Apple Vision Pro – Innovating With Hammocks I would never have thought to suspend the Apple Vision Pro in a hammock. The bag is designed to protect expensive gear. Backpack for Apple Vision Pro Review: Carry everything you need for spatial computationI appreciate the effort made, the materials used, and the features included in the Backpack. It looks like any other Waterfield bag and fits in perfectly with the rest of their bags. I would like to see the bag improved in future versions, but this is a great first edition. This is the only product of its kind for Apple Vision Pro. It may seem expensive, but it’s aimed at consumers who are willing to spend $3500 on an Apple Vision Pro. If you can afford it, the Waterfield Backpack for Apple Vision Pro is worth every penny. Waterfield Backpack Review for Apple Vision Pro – Pros Sturdy and protective backpack
Apple Vision Pro is carried in a two-tiered design with a hammock.
There is enough space to fit a keyboard and accessories as well as a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Removeable components in case you need the bag for something else
Waterfield Backpack Review for Apple Vision Pro – Cons No water bottles pocket
Slots that could be used as pockets, but instead act like deep, narrow voids
High price
No other color or canvas options
Rating: 4 out 5 The Backpack is a perfect fit for the Apple Vision Pro and feels like perfection. There’s not much to improve, but the price and odd design choices keep it at a 4 out 5. The Backpack has a great silhouette, but we’re still missing features like a bottle holder. If those odd inner pockets could be made to be more useful, that would help elevate this product even further. How to purchase the Waterfield Backpack Apple Vision Pro Although it is a limited-edition product, it will be available to buy as long as demand is there. Waterfield will ship the bags in bulk every month. Customers ordering as of publication will receive their bag in the August 6 shipment. If you miss this shipment, another one will be made in September. The Backpack for Apple Vision Pro is available on the Waterfield Website for $419. The only color available is black nylon.
