The phone 16 Pro and Pro Max are getting bigger, why?

In a little more than a month, new iPhones will be available. The iPhone 16 line will feature Apple Intelligence, camera upgrades, a dedicated capture button, and much more. The Pro models will only see one major design change: larger displays. Both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Pro Max will be larger than previous Pro phones. We know this because of multiple reports that confirm it. We don’t know why. Here’s my best guess. As many sources have confirmed, the iPhone 16 lineup will include Pro models with the display sizes listed below:iPhone 16 Pro : 6.3 inches (up 6.1 inches)
iPhone 16 Pro Max: 6.9 Inches (up from 6.7).
These changes are not so minor that they can be attributed to a slight rearrangement of internal parts. These changes aren’t too big to make a huge difference for users. The iPhone 5’s 4 inch display was the first to replace the original iPhone’s 3.5 inch display. This lasted from 2007 until 2012. The biggest jump was in 2014, when the iPhone 6 and 6 plus were released at 4.7 inches and 5.5 inch. The iPhone X was launched in 2017 with a 5.8-inch edge-to-edge screen, but a similar-sized frame. The first Max model was 6.5 inches. Then came some minor updates. The last major size change was in 2019. Apple’s iPhone lineup consisted mainly of 6.1-inch- and 6.7″-sized models, excluding the failed mini. Five years later, Apple has finally changed the sizes. Why now? Apple sells hundreds millions of iPhones every year. It does not make changes to its flagship products lightly. So, as I tried to wrap myself around the reasons for the size changes, these are the two main reasons I could think of. Apple knows that it can’t increase the iPhone’s size too much, or else it will make the phone uncomfortable to hold. This year’s modest increases are a result of this.
Apple Intelligence – The rapid growth in AI means Apple must put even more powerful processors in the iPhone. Apple has often had a chip advantage that was at least a year ahead of its competitors in the past. Apple must push iPhone chip development harder than ever before, due to AI’s high computing requirements. This could mean that the company needs more enclosure space to accommodate larger chips, better thermal control, or larger batteries.
