Apple’s expected thinner iPhone will be called the “iPhone Air” according to a new rumor, but the claim is just as thin as the name. It seems that a slimmer iPhone is on its way. There have been many leaks. Front Page Tech’s Jon Prosser does not add to or support any of these reports, but rather extrapolates that Apple will call the iPhone Air. In a 12-minute video, he also says that the iPhone Air won’t be a higher-end model but will instead be priced at the same level as the current iPhone 15 Plus. This is based upon the fact that the 2025 iPhone’s specifications are significantly lower than the iPhone 17 Pro models of the same year. Previous reports claimed that the processor would be less powerful than the Pro range. The iPhone 17 Pro will receive an A19 Pro processor, while the slim model is expected to get an A19. The slim iPhone was also reported to have a redesigned lens and cost $1,299. Prosser recite all of this information in his video. He gives more credence to certain sources and less to others. But in every case, bar one, he relies on these variable sources to support his idea. Prosser questions the $1,299 figure before rejecting it. Prosser believes that the slim iPhone 17 is likely to be a lower end device than predicted, based on his expectation of a single camera and a processor that is less powerful. Apple is said to be abandoning the iPhone Plus for the iPhone Slim in order to maintain four models. According to Prosser, the iPhone Air is a real replacement for the iPhone Plus. He means in terms of technology, price and the market it is aiming at. Prosser’s track record is mixed, even with extrapolations such as this. Apple has used the term “Air” before for iPads and Macs, so it could use it again for the iPhone. It could do the same for an Apple Watch Air. This rumor is not based on the odds of the name.
