Apple Intelligence will not charge any fees or subscriptions. This could change as soon as 2027. Apple has not stated when all the first features of Apple Intelligence will be available in iOS 18, iPadOS 18 or macOS Sequoia. While the OS upgrades are expected to be released this spring, AI features will appear in future updates that will be released between late 2024 and early 2025. AppleInsider previously reported that future Apple Intelligence functions, especially those for advanced users, may require a fee or subscription. Bloomberg’s Power On Newsletter says that it is unlikely users will see these features before 2027. Apple Intelligence’s first set of features includes a combination of intelligent summary abilities in programs such as Mail and Messages. It also includes an improved Siri assistant, images generators, and other features. Apple Intelligence’s more advanced features will likely come with a cost, just like Apple TV+ and iCloud+. These features are likely to be for specialized services or large-scale services that leverage the Private Cloud Compute Technology. Apple Intelligence’s subscription or paid features are likely to be targeted at corporate users, education sector users, or other business users. Analysts have suggested that a subscription to Apple Intelligence could cost as much as $20 a month.
