The iPhone 15 Pro line is made up of a titanium and glass sandwich, helping reduce the weight compared to earlier Pro models. Google, on the other hand, claims that both models are capable of handling up to 2,000 nits when it comes to HDR content, and 3,000 nits in peak. All the phones have a contrast ratio up to 2,000,000 to 1. The 12-megapixel Ultra Wide camera has a 120-degree view. The Telephoto on the Pro is equipped with a 12-megapixel camera and a 2x magnifying lens, as well as sensor-shift OIS. The Pro Max uses a tetraprism arrangement to increase the maximum optical zoom up to 5x. The iPhones are capable of recording 4K video up to 60fps and 1080p Slow-mo up to 240fps. There are three modes: 4K HDR Cinematic at up to 30fps; Action Mode at 2.8K at up to 60fps; and Spatial Video 1080p at 30fps. The more professional video features include HDR with Dolby vision at 4K 60Hz. It also supports Log video recording, the Academy Color Encoding System and Macro capabilities. You can record ProRes 4K 60fps video directly to an external drive. LiDAR is also used to help focus the rear cameras in low-light conditions. The rear of the Google Pixel 9 Pro XLGoogle offers two cameras: a 50MP Octa PD Wide and a 48MP quad PD Ultrawide. The 48MP quad PD telephoto camera has a 5x optical Zoom, but can handle “Super Res Zooms” up to 30x. The Wide and Telephoto sensors on the rear cameras are also equipped with optical and electronic image stabilizers. On the back, there is a Multi-zone Laser Detect Autofocus (LDAF). Pixel video features include 8K at 30fps video, 4K HDR at 60fps support, cinematic blurring and panning, 240fps slow-mo and even Super Rez zoom video. The front camera is capable of recording 4K 60fps videos. The TrueDepth array on the top of iPhones has a 12-megapixel camera around the front. It is capable of 4K 60fps videos, HDR, and ProRes. It also has depth mapping abilities that are used for Face ID, among other applications. iPhone 15 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro, Pro XL and XL – Processing The A17 Pro chip is found inside the iPhones. It has a six core CPU with two performance and four efficiency processors. The A17 Pro chip is accompanied by a 16-core Neural Engine and a 6-core GPU, which will handle the majority of Apple Intelligence processing on the device. The A17 Pro comes with 8 gigabytes LPDDR5 RAM. The Pixels are powered with the Google Tensor G4 processor. It has a 1-3-4 layout, with a powerful core flanked on either side by three mid-sized cores and four lower-powered cores. It is technically one mid-core less than the G3, however, with faster clock speeds it should balance itself out. Google has also added the Titan M2 coprocessor for security, and doubled the memory to 16GB. We can’t compare the A17 Pro directly to the Tensor G4 at this stage because we don’t have benchmarks for the Tensor G4. We can say that both Apple’s and Google’s devices are geared towards a future with more AI. iPhone 15 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro & Pro XL – Connectivity, power and other features Both smartphones offer 5G support covering both mmWave & Sub-6Ghz band, as well as LTE. Wi-Fi 6E is supported on iPhone, while Pixel uses Wi-7 and Bluetooth 5.3. Both sides offer Ultra Wideband, with USB-C being used for physical connectivity. Apple’s implementation of NFC is limited to payments only. iPhones can also connect to satellites via the Emergency SOS via satellite and Roadside Assistance through Satellite features. Google has its Satellite SOS feature. Apple claims that the Pro and Pro Max have a battery life of up to 29 hours for video playback and 23 hours for video. Google claims that each model can last up to 24 hours, depending on the features used. The iPhones can be recharged via USB-C, or wirelessly using MagSafe on the rear. Google has Qi and USB-C charging capabilities. Google Pixel 9 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro – Storage, color and price Apple offers four color options for the iPhone 15 Pro: Black Titanium (pictured), White Titanium (pictured), Blue Titanium (pictured), and Natural Titanium. Pixel 9 Pro and XL also come in four color options: Porcelain (as shown), Rose Quartz (shown), Hazel (shown), and Obsidian. Both the iPhone 15 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro are available in four different capacities: 128GB and 512GB. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is only available in the top three storage capacities and not the 128GB version. Rose Quartz is available on the Google Pixel 9 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro with a 128GB storage capacity starts at $999. The 256GB Pro Max starts at $1,199. Google Pixel 9 Pro starts at $999 for its lowest storage capacity. The Pro XL begins at $1,099. iPhone 15 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro & Pro XL – Which to Buy? When you look at the matchup from a platform-agnostic perspective, there are a lot of things that go in Google’s favor. Google is favored by the longer displays, higher resolutions, and brighter screens. The camera system also favors Pixels. Google’s 48MP Ultra Wide and Telephoto cameras, which are comparable in resolution to Apple’s 12MP sensors, beat Apple’s preference for Apple’s 12MP sensor. Even the Pixels’ front camera, with 42MP, is superior to Apple’s TrueDepth array at 12MP. For the moment, we can say with confidence that the two product lines are very similar. The situation could change dramatically when the iPhone 16 Pro is released in September. The Pixel 9 Pro and XL is currently one of the best Android devices. It’s important to choose a device that is at the forefront of Google AI research. Apple Intelligence is Cupertino’s attempt to enter the generative AI market. The iPhone 15 Pro, and Pro Max, are the first iPhones that will benefit from it. It’s better to wait until the next iPhone generation is released.
