How to create widgets on iPhone for emergency contacts and personal contacts
Set up widgets for emergency and contact information on your iPhone to provide essential details without having to unlock it. Here’s how and why this is useful. You can create emergency contacts in the Health app. However, widgets from Reminders and Notes are useful if someone does not know how to access emergency contact information. Using reminder widgets to access emergency information is easy on an iPhone. It allows first responders and good samaritans to help you in critical circumstances. You can access the widgets center by swiping right from the Home Screen. This is the only widget that can be accessed via the Lock Screen. The Reminders widget will help anyone who finds your iPhone contact you. Here’s how you set it up. Tap Add List in the bottom-right corner of the Reminders App on your iPhone. Name it Contact Information.
Add your contact information on separate lines. Include name, phone number and email address.
Press and hold the screen to edit the widgets.
Tap the plus sign to add the Reminders widget. Select your contact list and it will be displayed in the widget.
Now, you can easily access your contact information from the widget screen. Anyone who finds your iPhone can quickly view your contact information and contact you. These widgets make contact information readily available. The process for adding a widget that contains emergency contact information is the same. Open the Reminders App and create a new list of Emergency Contacts.
Add a reminder to your emergency contacts such as family members or friends.
Press and hold the section you want to edit, then tap on the screen.
Select Emergency Contacts from the drop-down menu to display them in the widget.
The emergency contacts are similar to the personal widget. You can have a few of your closest friends and family members at hand. If you are in trouble, those who find your phone can call them. You can also add a small Reminders widget to your Lock Screen, unlike Apple Notes. While first responders are likely to know how to swipe around the screen for information, others might not. Add a small text, such as “emergency information”, to let people know that you have provided this information on your iPhone. Then they can swipe to find it. The Notes app has widgets that display folders, Quick Notes, and notes. You’ll want to create Quick Notes, as they offer the large widget size. The widget for regular Notes is only available in a small square. Look for the Quick Notes icon at the top of Apple Notes’ sidebar.
Open the folder, and then tap the Compose icon in the upper right.
Add your contact details and those of your contacts in case of emergency.
You’ll swipe right again to access the widget center, and add the Quick Note widget there. Swipe right to access the widgets center on your Home Screen. Press and hold the screen then tap Edit.
Tap the plus sign and select the Quick Note widget to display your quick note.
A Quick Note widget can hold more information than a Reminders widget. You can use it to store all your contact information, instead of having two reminders. A Quick Note widget is able to hold more information than the Reminders widget. This setup allows anyone to quickly access important contacts without having to navigate your phone. These are proactive steps which can be crucial in an emergency where every second counts.
