XBL Background Downloads Won’t Come Until…

Hopefully, not “never.”

There were rumors about the possible XBox Live dashboard update happening sometime this month which was then confirmed by Senior Product Manager Xbox Platform and Accessories of Microsoft Germany, Boris Schneider. He did say that the dashboard update was coming at the end of May.

But the chances of that happening during the remaining days of May are slim.

Gamers, though, should be delighted to know that the feature set is very promising. The “Active Download feature” will still allow them to play games while background downloading. Playing online though will not be as smooth as gamers are used to – the system will pause while downloading and will then resume a bit later. This update will allow users to queue up to six content items.

These new features promise to revolutionize the Xbox Live Marketplace, but we’re seriously hoping that the updates become available soon.
