LOTRO:SOA Crafting System Problems?

Nik “Mithril_Miser” Davidson recently had some interesting insight on Lord Of The Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar and its crafting system. Apparently, its not all its cracked up to me. Davidson says:

“…LotR is really the story of a crafting quest gone wrong…Sauron found some bugged crafting recipes and used them to forge some completely busted equipment, and it’s now up to the poor players to try to get rid of all of his bugged loot to keep the server from crashing.”

Apparently, the problem lies in multiple objects sharing single names. The case in point here involved some objects that created Fireshields. Fireshielding has yet to be fully implemented, and enemies attacking fireshielded characters don’t run the risk of having their attack backfire.

No more Fireshield objects will be created, however, the ones currently available will not be changed…so expect some problems.

LotRO:SOA will definitely need some sort of naming policy to avoid crashes, conflicts – and players that get fed up and leave the game.
