Bill Gates: 160 Titles by Christmas
In an interview with MTV, Bill Gates says they’re expecting about 160 Xbox 360 titles by this year’s Christmas season. The interview was held right after he had his talk at the Microsoft E3 press conference. “This will be an amazing Christmas,” he said. “Last year, people were tantalized because they saw the high-definition sets, but not everybody could get their hands on an Xbox 360 and we only had about 10 titles out there. Here, we’re going to have about 160.“
Right now about 40 Xbox 360 games have been released, and 40 more are planned for release somewhere this year. This means that 80 games are known to be there during Christmas. So another ~80 seems like quite a lot, doesn’t it? Of course lots of titles won’t make their planned release date, but all those sports games that are yet to be announced might make that goal seem more realistic.
In the interview he didn’t just talk about those 160 games, but also about the motion-sensitive technology that Sony and Nintendo will use. “There’s room for innovation here, but moving that controller around — it’s something that’s not mainstream for most games,” Gates said. “It’s tough because sometimes you move the controller, and you don’t mean to fly into the ground. You just want to put the controller down.”
