Video Gamers as Deadly as the Mafia?
Tuesday there has been a murder in Florida (West Feliciana Parish to be exact), where a man named Michael Gore apparently was beaten to death and shot in the face because he wouldn’t let two guys borrow his car. One of the teen suspects, Kurt Edward Neher (16 years old), was booked a couple of days ago for that crime. A Florida lawyer suggested to search the house of that teen suspect again… for videogames. Guess who that lawyer was? Jack Thompson.
Police seized several games from his house during the second specific search, including AO and M-rated games. Their Sheriff, Spence Dilworth, said the following: “I think it goes beyond video games, but whoÂ’s to say?” He also said that the whole violent videogame thing is “more of a debate for the living room rather than the courtroom.“
The devil himself, Jack Thompson, suggested the second search on Friday and believes the games they found are a motive to the crime. He also said the way Michael Gore was killed “raised a red flag“. Since naturally, its just the way we, as gamers, would choose to kill someone. Check it out: “Nobody shoots anybody in the face, unless youÂ’re a hit man or a video gamer.”
He also said that the way it [the killing] happened was the same as in a scene from ‘Grand Theft Auto’ (he didn’t mention a specific title).
Seriously, someone stop him. Please!
