What are you waiting for? A certain shade of green? If so, then there will be some green light at the end of that tunnel for you guys. VentureBeat reports that Warner Bros and Double Helix have partnered to work on a action game based on the Green Lantern.
According to the report, the Green Lantern game is to be released alongside the movie, which is scheduled for a June 17, 2011 launch, meaning you don’t have to stand around ’till 2012 AD (yes, I’m still singing along to the Incubus song).
Double Helix is just finishing up on G.i Joe: Rise of Cobra (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, PSP, Wii) for Electronic Arts, and they’ve just begun work on Green Lantern for Warner Bros, which is expected to be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Get ready for some Green Lantern revival, as this year will see the 50th anniversary of Hal Jordan, the original Green Lantern, to be celebrated at this year’s Comic-Con. The movie, Green Lantern: First Flight, will arrive shortly on DVD. To top it all off, a comic book revival by Geoff Johns will feature the ring-powered Justice Leaguer in a series dubbed “Blackest Night.”
As expected, Warner Bros. played the “rumor and speculation” card when asked to comment on the rumor. VentureBeat, however, reports that the project has been bandied about for more than a year, but actual development didn’t start until recently.
