A Look at AGEIA’s Cellfactor Demo
While it’s not yet confirmed for any particular home console, this is a sure-fire thing for PC. AGEIA’s just released a demo of their game titled “Cellfactor: Combat Training“. Here you’ll see some pretty amazing footage of AGEIA’s PhysX card in action.
The requirements for this game are pretty beefy, and AGEIA states that a PhysX card is absolutely required to play. Below you will see two images which demonstrate the difference in the game engine’s capacity for particle emission and physics, with and without the PPU (Physics Processing Unit) being utilized in the UNREAL3 engine.
Will AGEIA find a way to make this immaculate simulation of physics run smoothly on the XBOX360? Will it require the power only a home console like the PS3 can deliver? Or is the un-PPU-accelerated video a hint that home console versions will just have to take a backseat to PCs which utilize AGEIA’s own hardware? Since this game is running on the UNREAL3 engine, we can hope to see Cellfactor with comparable physics simulation on the PS3, which is the choice console platform for UNREAL3. Thanks to Dennis for the heads up!
