A look at the DivX Stage6 Wii page
DivX is one of the most popular video codecs out there. You get relatively good quality with decent compression into small file sizes. The DivX codecs are probably the biggest successes of DivX Inc. (what used to DivXNetworks Inc.), although that depends on how you define big.
Stage6 is DivX’s new project: it looks like your typical video-sharing site. But it’s backed by DivX. You get better-looking videos, advanced menus, subtitles (yeah, subtitles), and multiple audio tracks. It’s your chance to get your videos out to diverse audiences.
So how many of you knew that Stage6 has had a Wii Channel since September?
Other than being another place to go to for Wii-related videos and pictures, what else is it good for? It doesn’t look like much just yet – although that’s like saying that YouTube or a gameplay footage site is “not much” (nobody can deny the sheer marketing power of YouTube for example! and you can’t deny that thousands of people spend time watching other people‘s game footage!) – but it’d be nice if this means something more for the video features of the Wii.
