A vid and some rumors: Tekken 6 director’s message

At the recent AOU Arcade Game Exhibition 2007, this Tekken 6 “director’s message” video (posted on YouTube by sanfe) was shown:

Yes, we know, the thing’s in Japanese, but Rhazer Fusion, a NeoGAF member, believes that the following may be what’s been revealed in the interview.

• Leo has been confirmed to be a female by the director. (Still up to debate.) Leo’s martial art style is similar to Akira’s in VF but with her(his?) own original style added. Leo is also similar to Paul (Paul’s daughter??) and was made to attract people who are new to the franchise.
• There will be more than two new characters. I think I saw one of them in the promotional trailer and it appears to be another girl who has a fighting style that resembles Lion from Virtua Fighter (some of us here at QJ think it’s just Asuka in a different costume). Old characters will obviously receive new moves and new motions to make the game feel fresh.
• Stages will be very different from previous Tekken and will have lots of strategic usage and customization is going to be a huge part of the game.
• The game is only 15% done at the moment.

Now, Rhazer Fusion says that if anything above is inaccurate, don’t shoot him as he’s only the messenger. Anyhow, we here at QJ will update you folks as soon as we get info that’s a bit more solid. As for what we have right now, yeah, Leo’s chest does look a bit “puffy.” And as far the the gameplay details go, specifically that “stages will have strategic use” part, well, we’re not quite comfortable with that. Remember the reaction to Tekken 4?

Here’s to hoping that Bryan’s shotgun is actually a usable item that you can unlock (like the costumes), and that everyone of the characters get their own.
