Activision CEO: third-parties will dominate the Wii

It's not all about Mario, yo! - Image 1Even with third-party publishers active on the Wii scene, one would think that Nintendo consoles are still for Nintendo franchises. Mario is to Halo, but Nintendo’s got more backing them up than just established brands.

Activision CEO Robert “Bobby” Kotick believes that third parties are actually in a better position than Nintendo. He comments that this generation is a lot different from the days of GameCube. Back then, the other consoles were running laps around Ninty’s ‘Cube.

During the dark times, only Nintendo could make games that would actually sell; most likely because third-parties were hesitant to invest money anyway. This time around, Ninty came up with an innovative device that all publishers can take advantage of.

Kotick proudly announced that they’ll be investing more money on the Wii. After calling Harmonix copycats, Activision’s head honcho also said “There probably is no better product to take advantage of the capabilities of the Wii than Guitar Hero.”

We can look forward to more Activision titles on the Wii in the near future.
