The bubble still hasn’t burst for Activision‘s Guitar Hero franchise, and so the company’s still doing what it can to satisfy what Activision president Mike Griffith calls the consumer’s “insatiable appetite” for more.

The latest move by Activision to further perpetuate the rhythm game franchise has been to trademark the name “Guitar Hero Modern Hits”. Descriptions for the trademark include “interactive video game comprised of a cartridge or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller” and “downloadable computer game software”.

Even though Activision already has a total of four Guitar Hero titles penciled in for this year (both released and unreleased), the company still plans to double that number by next year and tripling it by 2010. Market saturation, anyone?
