Steve Pearce, Chief Technology Officer of Activision, had a little chat with IGN to reveal and discuss their grand online plans, starting off with their acquisition of Irish developer Demonware.

Teaming up with Demonware is nothing new to Activision, as they have already paired up with each other closely for a number of years now. Says Pearce of their relationship, “We have shared a vision of some exciting developments we are planning for the coming years. The marriage of Demonware’s talented engineers and our game designers is already bearing fruit.”

It’s also pretty much settled that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will be using Demonware technology. As for the Call of Duty franchise, “It’s no surprise, I imagine, that Call of Duty will be using Demonware technology. I think I’m going to have to stop there.” At least for now, those are the upcoming games that you can expect from this newly-sealed union.

But if you’re interested in finding out what other games have utilized Demonware’s middleware solutions, you might wanna check out RSV, Smackdown vs. Raw, and Splinter Cell: Double Agent. They also revealed that they do tend to provide online functionality fir all console platforms, as well as their plans to develop online-enabled Wii games in the future.
