Activision’s Kotick ‘disappointed’ at price cut-less E3

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick would be one example of such corpo-bigwig, and yes, he too, like many of us out here, was disappointed that no console price cut was announced at E3.

In an interview with Bloomberg, he revealed that he would have wanted to see consoles getting “aggressive price cutting.” Said Kotick, “Of all the things that the hardware companies need to be doing right now, it’s recognizing the difficulties of the economy and pricing their hardware appropriately.”

He’s said before, “I think when you’re in the economic circumstances that the world has found itself in, there really is a difference between a US$ 199 game system and a US$ 299 game system.”

But it looks like the big hardware companies do not necessarily share Kotick’s enthusiasm for price cuts. Sony‘s Kaz Hirai, for example, has been vocal about his stand as well, saying that “We’re very happy with the price point we have. We will move it when we think it’s appropriate at some point in time.”
