Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures: balancing main and alt leveling
It’s no secret that a lot of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures players keep alternate characters or alts. It makes one wonder how players find time to level both their alts and main characters. Well, that’s exactly what we talk about in the full article. Head on over there by clicking on the “read more” link.
Hi everyone, I’m Enrico, and I’m an Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures altaholic… Sorry, I really wanted to start this article with that statement considering the topic at hand.
Now, as some of you may know, creating alts (or alternate characters) in MMORPGs can be fun. Now the question is, how does a player balance leveling a main and an alt?
Before we get into the topic more deeply, lets define a few important keywords for the newer MMORPG players. A player’s main, or main character, is typically the highest leveled character in his or her stable of characters. It also is the character that is most played by that player and normally has the best gear. An alt, or alternate character, is used to refer to the other characters a player has and normally don’t get as much playtime as the main.
Like most MMORPG players, I’m just as attached to my alts as my main, but I don’t want to see my primary character slow down his leveling and gear hunting by spending too much time with my alts since this might have me ending up with no characters to run some of the higher level raids with. So what’s a good rule of thumb when leveling alts and mains?
I believe I’ve found a good balance in leveling my characters. I normally put in two to three hours of leveling time on my main before jumping over to my alt for one hour. This way, I keep from getting bored with my main and still end up progressing with him quite a bit. In addition, it also provides some much needed loving to my alts which I have to admit haven’t been played as much before I started implementing this rule.
Of course, this isn’t a hard rule to leveling both alts and mains. There are some people who actually just play what character they feel like while keeping their main well-leveled. How about you? Got some tips on how you balance leveling your characters? Why don’t you post them below and share it with the rest of the community?
