Almost two million dollars in Xbox 360s now stolen

It’s a sign that you’re famous when people make spoofs about you. And it’s a sign that you’re one hot console if you get stolen. A truck in the Midlands in the UK carrying about £ 750,000 worth in Xbox 360s got hijacked on Wednesday. That’s about 1,450,000 U.S. dollars in Xbox 360s. Another truck with 260,000 quid (about US$ 500,000) of Xbox 360s also got hijacked.

We reported earlier about one of these trucks getting hijacked. According to the police, the stolen goods will probably be sold to buyers looking for pre-Christmas bargains.

How much? “They are in high demand and cost between £ 200 and £ 300,” said Peter Stevens of the Staffordshire Police. That’s US$ 380 to US$ 580.

How will they be sold? The police thinks in pubs or off the back of trucks (we’re thinking shady deals in dark alleys). Car boot sales are another option: a car “boot” sale or “trunk” sale is like a big garage sale where people show up with their stuff in the trunks of their cars. Think of it as a big British yard sale, garage sale (without the garage), and fair all in one.

But wouldn’t you rather buy an embroidered tea cosy, a few episodes of “Are You Being Served?” and “Keeping Up Appearances,” and a box of years-old porridge mix than pay some criminal 300 quid for a stolen Xbox 360?
