Alone In The Dark – Episodic Details Emerge
Think back to the good ole days, when survival horror wasn’t yet an overexploited gaming genre and torchlight in game still had an ‘ooh’ factor, cool ei? Well, title Alone in the Dark brings back those blissful gaming memories. The folks at Eden Studios are going to use a TV-show style format for the forthcoming remake of that survival horror classic in the form of Alone in the Dark, due out for PC and Xbox 360 next year.
Each level, sorry I mean ‘episode’, will be 30 to 40 minutes long and feature some cliffhanger endings with little teasing advert stylings as you may see after an episode of LOST ‘Next Week on AitD – Will Hurley Lose Weight?’. Apparently, all this will help make the narrative more intense for the player. “Our new format for Alone in the Dark greatly enhances the pace and tension” says game director David Nadal. “You barely have time to breathe before the next cliffhanger hits you.” Short levels then, sounds like a cool idea, assuming it works.
