An early Christmas: Prince of Persia release date confirmed

Prince of Persia - Image 1Better start making those Christmas lists! The release date for Prince of Persia has finally been confirmed. December is the happy month for fans of cel-shaded graphics. Prince of Persia - Image 1Ubisoft has finally penned the release date for their next-gen Prince of Persia title. Ah yes, my Christmas season couldn’t get any better – nothing like a stocking-stuffer than some cel-shaded eye candy, right?

Take out those Christmas shopping lists. North America gets Prince of Persia on December 2. That’s for all of its platform versions, namely the ones for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, and its DS spin off, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King.

Meanwhile, Europe will get the game (simultaneous across all platforms too – even the DS spin-off) just a few days later, on December 5.

A demo for the game before its release sounds unlikely, as game’s the producer, Ben Mattes, stated back in July that it’s “not planned”:

Doing demos of open-world games is a technical challenge; plus we’re not convinced we need to. It’s a brand that has some history, some built-in fan-base and we can benefit a little bit from that. Whether you like Sands of Time, Warrior Within or Two Thrones, chances are you’re going to love this game because there are elements of all of those in it.

Which I’m okay with – I’m not really counting on a demo either. When I heard that PoP‘s taking inspiration from Okami, Ico, and all those past Prince of Persia titles, I was pretty much sold to the idea already. Demo or no – I’m in!
