Treyarch believes Call of Duty: Black Ops will be the best game in the franchise. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick thinks it’ll continue the trend of the latest CoD game outperforming its predecessor, but there’s at least one dissenting voice saying it won’t.

Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson has boosted his sales prediction for Black Ops from 10 million to 12 million copies, but still believes that it will fall short of Modern Warfare 2.

Wilson estimates that last year’s Infinity Ward megahit sold 16 million copies in the 2009 holiday season, a number that’s just unreachable for Black Ops due to “competition, weaker marketing, and the Infinity Ward situation.”

We’ll see when Call of Duty: Black Ops comes out on November 9.
