Sony’s PlayStation 2 is the best-selling video game console to date. By the end of the year, however, that title could be handed over to the Nintendo DS.
NPD analyst Anita Frazier says that the DS’s install base in the US should overtake the PS2’s “by October or November.” Pretty impressive, considering the DS has only been out for five years while the PS2’s been around for 10 years now.
The PS2 has so far sold more than 143 million units worldwide. By Nintendo’s own accounts, the DS has sold over 125 million units since launch.
