Analyst expects Wii to lead January hardware sales

Wii will win? - Image 1Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter is back once again with another prediction, and it predicts a pretty large amount of growth for the PS3 and Wii. The difference, however, is that the Wii is expected to do rather well in comparison to the PS3.

First off, Pachter mentions that he expects the reports from the different companies to show large growth for their new-generation consoles. He also expects January’s sales results to show new-gen console software sales trumping that of the GameCube and PS2 era.

More importantly for the fanboys, Pachter’s counting on seeing around 200,000 more Wii consoles sold as compared to the PS3. At the same time, however, he does expect rather high numbers from the two consoles for January. “Our forecast presumes sell through rates of 300,000 PS3 and 500,000 Wii hardware systems, with an attach rate of 1.5 software units,” mentions Pachter.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for the actual results to come in just to see how much the two new consoles have grown in its early post-release stages.
