Analyst: Final Fantasy XIII may surpass FFXII success on the PS3
With a massive 20 million PS2 install base, Square Enix released Final Fantasy XII exclusively on the PS2 in Japan, and has so far sold some 2.4 million units to date. A Japanese analyst has high enough faith in Final Fantasy XIII to say that it just may be able to surpass that established record.

Yusuke Tsunoda of Tokai Tokyo Securities Co. is of the opinion that FFXIII will be able to outsell FFXII, despite the fact that the PS3 console only has some 4 million units install base in Japan. Tsunoda believes that FFXIII “is a really strong itle and sales look a lot better than we expected. Domestic sales may exceed the results of the previous Final Fantasy title andhelp bolster demand for the PS3.”
That’s not too farfetched a forecast considering that it’s been reported that the latest iteration of the FF franchise has sold over a million copies at day one alone.
