Analyst group Janco expects additional Guitar Hero instruments in 2008
Analyst group Janco has revealed that it expects more instrument peripherals to be announced for the Guitar Hero franchise some time next year. This according to Gamasutra.
Janco also predicted that Activision‘s core franchises will all perform strongly during the holiday season despite increased competition. The analyst group also expects that the publisher’s earnings performance will be above expectations. Activision will be releasing its earnings report tomorrow.
Guitar Hero III‘s (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii) main competitor Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360) was also seen by the analyst group as “a compelling option for the music oriented category beginning in holiday Â’07, which will pressure Guitar Hero‘s growth.” This seems to be the main reason why the group expects additional music peripherals to be announced for Guitar Hero.
Janco also noted that since the Guitar Hero franchise is developed internally and owned, it “offers a meaningful operating margin expansion potential versus Rock Band, which is purely a distribution deal for [Electronic Arts].”
