Analyst Mike Hickey: Grand Theft Auto 4 may ship 5.8 million in first week

According to analyst Mike Hickey, the game might be shipping a whopping 5.8 million units in its first week. Find out the details after the jump!
Truth be told, the things are definitely heating up for Rockstar North‘s Grand Theft Auto 4 (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3).
We’re not talking about the masturbation and explicit sexual issues that game has. We’re referring to the probable sales within the game’s first week.
According to Janco Partners’ analyst Mike Hickey, this game which is slated to be unleashed on April 29, 2008 will be able to sell about 5.8 million units in its week one. In fact, in a note to Gamestop investors, he said:
We expect [Gamestop] will benefit from the release of GTA IV in their fiscal Q2 08 period, which could ship 5.8 million units in the first week or US$ 360 million in retail sales and potentially US$ 110 million for the company.
Furthermore, Hickey added that the game to ship in as much as nine million units during Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two’s fiscal year. Well, how about that? It seems that eager fans of this game franchise won’t have problems getting a copy of the game.
