Analysts say the Wii’s attracting casual gamers, too
The Wii’s coming out in two days, and we sure can’t barely contain our excitement. We’re sure lots of people are, too. After all, the Wii screams innovation, and even casual gamers are heeding that call.
Our source says that the Wii looks appealing to “millions of buyers” as not only does it come with funky controller, it also comes cheap. The US$ 250 price tag sure doesn’t look intimidating to those who are new to gaming and who’d want to check out the Wii out of curiosity. After all, “it’s a plan that worked for Nintendo in the handheld-gaming market”, and a lot of people are banking that the Wii will follow the footsteps of the DS’ success.
Of course, there’s the catch regarding the unit’s graphics and power, which is surpassed by its competitors PS3 (which comes from Sony, an established gaming mogul for more than a decade) and Xbox 360 (which boasts of a year-long headstart) in terms of numbers. Still, a lot of analysts are expecting a positive outcome regarding the Wii’s sales due to the said unit’s “fun factor”, making it appealing not only to a particular niche but to the masses as well.
