Another kind of Fever: Puyo Pop 7 drops into PSP, DS, Wii
While I’m still very much into Patapon 2 right now (I’m actually already at the last stage, awww – I don’t want it to end!), a different kind of Fever is brewing elsewhere. Following Puyo Pop Fever, the next installment in Sega‘s Puyo Puyo jello drop-down puzzler franchise is currently in the works for the PSP, DS, and Wii.

Puyo Puyo 7 will be dropping into Nintendo‘s handheld first come July 30 in Japan. After that, by winter, the PSP and Wii ports will then be released.
Not a lot of details were revealed in this week’s Famitsu, where they got dibs on the announcement. While we can expect the same mechanics and various other modes to be intact in this game, one confirmed addition is the Transformation Mode.
As 1Up describes this new rule in gameplay, Transformation is “where deflecting a number of enemy attacks with your own fills up a gauge and offers the chance for even bigger combos, sort of like Fever mode in the last game.”
So far, there’s no announcement of a release outside of Japan, but considering Puyo Pop Fever got spammed across the platform board last time, this does stand a chance for a western release to feed on a couple of people’s jello-combo addictions.
Yeah, my mom’s definitely going to be happy to hear this bit of news. If only she’d let go of Meteos, then we can talk.
