Another Take-Two restructuring casualty: 2K Games New York office

Laid Off - Image 1As part of its restructuring program, Take-Two will be closing down its 2K Games New York office. “The 2K New York office will be closed as part of the consolidation of the label’s management and other functional operations on the West Coast,” said Ed Nebb, public relations advisor for Take-Two, who also declined to reveal the actual number of employees who will be laid off.

Nebb also emphasized,

It’s important to note that the goal of the reorganisation is not merely cost-efficiency, but about allowing Take-Two to do what it does best – create great, best-selling games.

Neb also revealed that Take-Two has dropped several titles in development planned for release next year. “We have extensively reviewed the products in our pipeline,” Nebb said. “While we are comfortable with the economic assumptions underlying most of the titles, we did write off several products in development that were planned for release beyond fiscal 2007.”

Major titles for Q3 and Q4 2007, such as like LA Noire and Beaterator however, are safe.
