App Store - Image 1Satisfied iPhone and iPod Touch owners from all over have indeed taken a big bite out the Apple. In just nine months of operation, the revolutionary Apple App Store scored a whopping one billion downloads for its 35,000 apps from users in 77 countries.

So says Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior VP or Worldwide Product Marketing:

The revolutionary App Store has been a phenomenal hit with iPhone and iPod touch users around the world, and weÂ’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve the astonishing milestone of one billion apps downloaded.

In nine months, the App Store has completely revolutionized the mobile industry and this is only the beginning

As a big “thank you”, Apple rewarded the very lucky 13-year-old Connor Mulcahey of Weston, CT, for being the downloader of the billionth app, which is Bump, from Bump Technologies, Connor gets a US$ 10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod Touch, a Time Capsule, and a Macbook Pro. Damn, that’s more stuff than a 13-year-old could use! Congrats to you dude!

Apple doesn’t stop there. By summer, the iPhone OS 3.0 update will go live, giving iPhones a hell lot more features than they already have, like over a thousand new developer APIs and over a hundred customer features.
