Last updated 4 hours agoAnalyst Ming Chi Kuo claims that he has details about the 2024 iPhone 16 Pro range and how optical zoom will continue to improve up to 2027 iPhone 19 Pro. Only the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a tetraprism, which provides a much greater optical zoom. The iPhone 16 Pro, as previously reported, is expected to receive this improved camera system. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that this is the only change and that both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro will feature a tetraprism. The model will be the same as that introduced with 2023’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. In a blog, Kuo said that the iPhone 17 Pro Max in 2025 will have more significant updates. He claims that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have an upgraded tetraprism to improve zoom functionality and photo-quality. The top 2025 iPhone, which currently has a 1/3.1 inch 12MP Contact Image sensor (CIS), will have a 1/2.6 inch 48MP CIS. It is not known if this will also be available in the iPhone 17 Pro. Kuo, however, says that the new tetraprism will be in the iPhone 18 Pro 2026, regardless of whether it’s true or not. Kuo claims that the tetraprism will be improved for 2027’s iPhone 19 Pro Max. Kuo has not provided any specifics, but he says that the upgrade will be more significant and substantial than before. Kuo claims that the iPhone 19 Pro Max’s optical zoom will be even better. Apple may not call it a Tetraprism Lens, but there is a possibility that Apple will use more and smaller prisms. Separately, recent reports have indicated that the iPhone 16 Pro – and also the regular iPhone 16 – will gain larger and brighter screens.
