The main difference between versions 18.1 and 18 is Apple Intelligence. This is the Cupertino company’s push to offer generative AI and machine-learning to its users. This version is only available for testing. What was revealed included a new Siri Animation, Type to Siri. It also featured a better understanding and contextual awareness of queries, product knowledge and a wide range of writing tools. Apple’s fifth developer beta for iOS 18 introduced Distraction Control. This feature is available in Safari and removes unwanted elements. Apple also made changes to its Photos app. The UI was updated to remove the Carousel, among other alterations. It is still too early to tell but it is likely that Apple has incorporated the changes from the iOS 18. beta into the 18.1 variants. AppleInsider recommends that users do not install beta or RC versions of software or test operating systems on primary or “mission-critical devices” as there is a small chance that data could be lost. Instead, testers should use secondary or non essential hardware and make sure they have enough backups of critical data. You can find any changes in these new builds.
