Apple has informed App Store developers and book sellers that they must update their details to include a trader’s status by the end of February to comply with EU Digital Services Act regulations. Apple must follow the EU Digital Services Act rules for all of its online stores, including the App Store. Apple’s News and Updates page has informed developers that they will need to make changes due to certain rules requiring actions from store participants. Apple has also emailed participants of its digital stores, including eBook sellers that offer publications via the Apple Books Store. Apple’s Developer Site notification informs Account Holders and Admins of the Apple Developer Program that they must enter their trader status in App Store Connect. The trader status must be reported by October 16 in order to submit app updates for the App Store. Moreover, all apps in the EU without a trader status will have their App Store removed until the status has been verified and provided. Apple offers developers a link on how to submit a trader status. AppleInsider has seen that the same information is required to keep books in the Apple Books Store. Apple is required to verify and display the contact information of all traders who distribute apps in the App store, as part of the Digital Services Act. This also applies to other storefronts. This information includes an email address, a phone number and an address. These will be displayed on the product page.
