Aquazone, Microtransactions, and 62 dollar fish

NeoGAF user Jonnyram posts over at their forums that a quick check of the Japanese XBLM reveals that Aquazone and A-train have new Downloadable Content“>downloadable content that rivals EA’s microtransaction offerings.

First off, Aquazone. They guys behind the game have added 18 fish that can be purchased for an amazingly low price of 5000 MS points. What’s worse is that 1UP points out that since the downloads are around 108kb each, the fish are actually on the disc.

So here’s the deal: It actually costs more to  buy additional fish than to purchase the game. What’s worse is that the fish are already in the disc that you bough in the first place.

Next, A-Train. Now this isn’t as bad as the first. That way, we sort of end this post with a semi-positive note. There are now 21 new trains online for 50 MS points each. Each are still 108KB, although this time the price isn’t that bad. Sigh.

Perhaps the best way to get companies to stop doing schemes like this is to not get behind them with our wallets.
