Are pachinko games leaving the PS3 for the Wii?
Pachinko games are currently a big part of Japanese PlayStation culture (with Samurai Warriors Pachinko one of their latest pachi-slot games), but with the advent of Namco Bandai‘s Kidou Senshi Gundam II Pachi-Slot Gundam Ai Senshi Hen for the Wii, it looks like the pachinko games are going to make a new home out of Nintendo’s motion-sensing console. A little trivia: in Japan, having pachinko and pachi-slot games in a platform is a sign of how well a system fares in that region. Currently, the god of pachinko favors Sony‘s PlayStation 3 – with Samurai Warriors Pachinko one of their latest pachi-slot games – but that preference may change in a short while. Why? Because there’s going to be a Gundam-themed pachinko game for the Wii, that’s why.
Kidou Senshi Gundam II Pachi-Slot Gundam Ai Senshi Hen (whew, what a mouthful) is Namco Bandai‘s latest pachi-slot titles, and its going to be released for the Wii instead of the PS3. It looks like the god of pachinko finally noticed that the Wii is doing very well compared to the PlayStation 3.
While this is no concrete confirmation that all future pachinko and pachi-slot games are going to the Wii, do keep in mind that this console gaming genre do not usually go multiplatform and only stay with the most successful console in Japan. The Pachinko games may just be testing the waters in the Wii using Gundam Pachi-slot, after all.
