Are we there yet? Xbox Live stats revealed
So, you’re happy digging ditches out of Dig Dug. And just recently, you’ve been able to square dance yourself into Lumines Live! Admit it. You’re an Xbox Live addict. Well, are you? Because we are. And we’re sure there’s lots of others out there like us. Like maybe around 4 million-ish.
Now, regardless of how deeply encroached you are in Xbox Live (or how deeply encroached it is in your life), haven’t you ever stopped to wonder: how is it doing? Where does it stand in the world wide – err – network of gaming? We’ve got some facts and stats lined up for you today, and it goes a little something like this:
- Xbox Live currently has more than 4 million members and is expected to grow to more than 6 million by June 2007
- It’s currently the worldÂ’s largest platform for HD
- Over 70 million downloaded gaming/entertainment content in just the first 11 months of launch
- XBLA has now surpassed 12 million downloads in less than a year
- More than 70% of connected Xbox 360 consoles are downloading content from Xbox Live Marketplace
- 2,000 downloadable gaming/entertainment content
- Major publishers and independent game developers have submitted more than a thousand game concepts to Microsoft for review
- average of 24% trial-to-purchase conversion rate, with UNO at the top, reaching a rate of over 50%
- Since the launch, gamers have spent more than 2 billion hours on the network playing games online
- Over 9 million text and voice messages are sent via Xbox Live every week.
Those numbers are staggering, to say the least. We’re overwhelmed. And we (that’s you and us) are part of those statistics, too. Of course, those are the stats now. We’re wondering what will happen once the Wii comes out with its Virtual Console. And then there’s the PS3’s network… Will the Xbox Live still keep going strong? Thoughts? Rebuttals? Assumptions? You know what to do…
