Looks like bad reviews of game-movie adaptations do nothing to deter companies from bringing more games to the silverscreen. It’s just been confirmed that the latest videogame title to head to Hollywood is Electronic ArtsArmy of Two (PS3, 360).

According to Variety’s report, Universal has been given licensing rights for the movie adaptation, with Scott Z. Burns of “The Bourne Ultimatum” fame penning the script. And in an unprecedented move, EA itself is actually producing the film, along with Scott Stuber, who was also part of the “Halo” movie.

Says Burns on the matter of the Army of Two movie:

The ambiguity of these private military corporations lends weight to an intelligent thriller with relevance to what’s going on in the world right now. You have contractors with their own agendas, and two guys whose friendship supersedes all the politics. I told EA right off the bat I wasn’t a gamer, and that appealed to them because they didn’t want to simply replicate the game.

That’s preemptive right there. When the movie comes out, don’t go complaining it’s nothing like the game, because as he’s revealed, “they didn’t want to simply replicate” it. So who do you think should play Tyson and Elliot? Whoever’s gonna play it should have good chemistry as partners. Maybe Jack Black and Kyle Gass? Haha. Just a thought.
