Arrival of WiiWare channel ushers in the Month of Metroid

Folks in the United States may want to check their Wii units for a new development. Kotaku reports that a WiiWare channel has shown up on the Wii Shopping Channel. Checking it will show that a Metroid Prime 3: Corruption preview is available for free download.

The download turns into its own Wii channel, but doesn’t actually give you a demo of the game. Instead, you’ll be getting trailers and game videos to whet your appetite for Metroid Prime 3, which is coming out on August 27.

In the meantime, Nintendo also wants you to celebrate an impromptu month of Metroid goodness as they’re releasing some of the earlier games in the series. Nintendo will be releasing the original Metroid and Super Metroid on August 13 and August 20 respectively. Metroid will cost 400 Wii Points, while Super Metroid will set you back 800 Wii Points.

For additional information, Gamer Tim has released a video showing off the new preview. Feel free to watch it, or skip the video and rush to your Wiis now.
