Australia: 120GB X360 HDD goes on-sale

Xbox 360 120GB HDD - Image 1Screen Play, the gaming and tech blog of Australian news site, The Age, managed to get their hands on the new 120GB drive for Microsoft‘s Xbox 360, and they inform that included in the drive are the following 16GB worth of stuff:

The drive should cost Aussies around AU$ 229 or US$ 187.51 . Is the drive worth the price? Well, here’s two things to think about:

First, The Age claims that there’s still no word on when the Elite – which already comes with a 120GB drive AND and HDMI port – is going to be released. Second, Microsoft still doesn’t like you modding your own Xbox 360, since some of you are probably thinking about just getting a Western Digital 2.5″ SATA drive and install it in your current 360 HDD enclosure.

If you’re an A/V geek and you really want space for those HD video downloads, we suggest waiting for the Elite (we’ve got reports saying that its “confirmed” for Winter 2007). If you really need the space, well, unless you’re willing to put a SATA drive into your 360 enclosure, the official Microsoft HDD should keep you on Microsoft’s good side.
