Avatar: The Last Air Bender Video

Nickelodeon‘s Avatar: The Last Airbender is enjoying quite a success in terms of viewership. Now that it’s about to branch out to videogaming, more particularly to Nintendo’s Wii, will it have the same success? I’m personaly not a fan of titles based from popular TV shows, usually it can do two things – make you hate the game so much you won’t play it ever gain, or, hate the game so much it’ll make you stop watching the show it was taken from (anyone who’s played Scooby Doo will understand). Well perhaps this video can aid us with our speculations.

Avatar is the name given to the demi-god bender who can master all the bending elements namely Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire. Bending in Aang’s (the Avatar) world means manipulation; and Aang grew up as an Air bender. He was the only one left of their people after the Fire nation’s invasion. The Avatar is the key in restoring peace to the strife-plauged world, if only he could master the manipulation of all the elements.

In this title for Wii, the player is tasked to take full charge of Aang’s character to fulfill his destiny of the long-searched for Avatar. Aided by Waterbender Katara and her warrior brother Sokka – who rescued Aang from a cavernous iceberg – the player must either elude or defeat the enemies to boost his bending powers.

Now from what I recall in the cartoon, it was always the Fire nation that gets in the way of Aang and his crew, but in this video, he appears to be warding off Earth benders (please correct me if I’m wrong). That could be an interesting twist to the original story cause it could suggest a whole lot of different possibilities, like the Earth and Fire Nation merging powers to catch the Avatar, or Earth Nation being under the power of a threat bigger than that of Fire Nation. Anyways, see it for yourself by clicking on the link below.

The game is scheduled for a Q4 release.
