Despite the official 1.1.0 release of J.F.’s Basilisk II PSP Port, the Mac emulator for the PlayStation Portable is still getting continuous test releases on the ps2dev forums. The latest build that was rolled out counts itself as test release 22 and includes some notable changes to allow Basilisk II to run smoother for those using an IR keyboard.

In addition, some changes were also added to the program’s code, making it slightly larger in size but with a notable speed difference as well. To give you a better idea of what new things were added in this release of Basilisk II, here’s a quote taken directly from the developer on the project’s release thread:

Made pspirkeyb files relative to the B2 directory. It’s probably why some people couldn’t get the IR keyboard to work – they didn’t have the proper files in the seplugins directory. Now they don’t need to worry about it. The files are now in the b2 directory and included with the program. It IS set to Palm, so if you have another keyboard, you’ll need to edit the pspirkeyb.ini file. I’ve verified this works and that the IRDA.prx is loaded by B2 on a Phat running 4.01 M33-2.
