Battle for Middle-Earth 2 for Xbox 360
Lord of the Rings fans can come out of their hobbit holes and get excited about Electronic Arts’ The Battle for Middle-Earth 2 coming to the Xbox 360 later this year.
Apparently, EA is currently working on interface and control scheme problems that plague console-based strategy titles. Officials stress that this game won’t be a port of its PC counterpart.
Louis Castle, former co-founder of Westwood Studios and veteran of the Command and Conquer series, has been called on to help with the title. TeamXbox reports both analog sticks on the 360 controller will be used for panning and zooming across maps, but the key is a context sensitive reticule in the middle of the screen that brings up specific commands for whatever is currently highlighted. BFME2 will also feature 4-player Xbox Live support.
Let’s hope the game does well, and maybe we’ll see more of these types of strategy titles coming to our consoles in the near future.
