Naval combat simulations are now suffering from a decrease in popularity but Eidos Interactive hope that the backing of the Xbox 360 will spare Battlestations: Midway from said slump. Making its debut in the much-awaited E3, Battlestations: Midway lets players take control of over 60 different vehicles. It must be noted that there will never be a land battle – land invasions and infantry fighting on deck of a ship are notably absent in this Xbox 360 title.

Battlestations: Midway, which is a WW II naval strategy game, start off with players manning guns while enemies shower them with bullets and torpedoes from the sky. In this version, you will be expected to protect your boat and keep it in one piece as fighter planes and dive bombers canvass the military base. A larger battle follows allowing you to shift on-the-fly to any unit in engagement.

Battlestations: Midway maximizes the Xbox Live multiplayer function allowing for eight player competitive modes – a maximum of four players playong on each side. But will this game’s 11 single-player battles, 10 side missions, and 10 separate multiplayer maps be enough to keep gamers interested in another naval combat simulation game? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
