Beta Journal update for LOTRO

LOTROSo you want to know how the Beta for The Lord of the Rings Online is coming along, eh? Well, we have here a beta journal entry from actual participants, basically talking about their views on playing Minstrel.

Minstrels, as we later found out, are actually the main healing class, hence it is very easy to get into a group, as well as to meet and make new friends. According to the journal, grouping with a minstrel proves to be rather fun. The Minstrel has to get into some kind of physical activity, other than just healing wounds, or else he will die quickly in his light armor. The rule is that, you must heal only when necessary and use your de-taunt whenever available.

Now, moving on to being a solo minstrel, your priorities shift quickly enough from healing wounds to just maximizing your own attack power. If you can lay out your strategies well enough, then most probably, you’d be better off as a soloist. Also, it is supposedly absolutely necessary that you do certain skills for particular times, especially if you get aggro from some monsters. This way, soloing becomes much tougher than being in a group.

The skill of Triumphant Spirit seems to have gained quite a nod from the Beta participants as well. What it does is to allegedly boost the morale of your fellowship almost instantly. However, it will draw a large amount of aggro to yourself. That’s why as a protective measure, you have to use the de-taunt skill right before or after this skill. And as it has a 15-minute refresh timer, it would be wise if you use it only for emergencies.
