Bethesda confirms Star Trek: Conquest for Nintendo Wii
For those of us who could fondly remember the point-and-click adventures of Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty and the expendable ensign on the PC game made by Interplay, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary – here’s some good news that may very well get us into that Trekkie fever all over again:
A next-gen Star Trek title for the Nintendo Wii named Star Trek: Conquest, courtesy of the good folks over at Bethesda Softworks.
In this title, armchair admirals will be able to command Federation, Romulan, Klingon, Cardassian, Dominion and Breen forces in a campaign to take control of the entire galaxy as we know it – one planet at a time.
Using the game’s turn-based strategy mechanics to your favor, create unstoppable fleets of starships and an impenetrable fortress to show that you mean business, and that your enemies, wherever they may be, will not live and prosper for much longer by way of the Wii’s motion-tracking abilities.
Combat in Star Trek: Conquest is where the Wii’s unique capabilities will shine as well. Once you engage your enemies in ship-to-ship combat, the game sits you directly on the Admiral’s Chair, giving you complete control of the Starship currently in battle.
Using the Nunchuk attachment to maneuver and the Wiimote to dispense destruction-by-photon-torpedoes, you’ll experience all the drama and tension of ship-to-ship combat, with the safety of your ship (and your crew) riding on your shoulders.
While it’s not the point-and-click adventure we were crossing our fingers for, Star Trek: Conquest is definitely a title we should keep an eye out on, the title pencilled in for a Holiday release. Till then, watch this space for more updates.
