Bethesda Softworks still has no comment on the status of Oblivion for the PSP - Image 1After getting wind of reports from GameStop that they have taken out The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion from its product database yesterday, many have speculated that the game has very little hope of seeing a release on the PlayStation Portable.

However, sources from Kotaku were able to catch up with Pete Hines, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations at Bethesda, and get his comment on the matter. Unfortunately, He was rather succinct with his reply: “We haven’t changed our stance that we are not talking about this title right now”.

Unfortunately, that sort of reply doesn’t exactly give a lot of closure.

People who’ve pre-ordered the game previously have been called by representatives from Gamestop informing them of its cancellation. This doesn’t exactly spell good news for gamers who are expecting to play Oblivion’s handheld version. Considering Gamestop doesn’t go to lengths like these when there’s still hope of a game hitting the shelves, is it really time for gamers to just pin their hopes on a different game?

In any case, we’ll just have to sit tight and see whether Bethesda has a more solid reply on whether or not The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion will still be hitting shelves, albeit rather belatedly.
