Bioshock 2 fan art impresses 2K Games
If you thought game makers could care less about art made by fans, you might want to reconsider. Just now, 2K Games made sure that the architecture student named Ben Mauro knows his concept art for Bioshock‘s (Microsoft Xbox 360, PC) sequel were noted. Head to the full article for more details.
We don’t hear much about publishers paying attention to fan art glorifying their games, but 2K Games definitely took note of one artist who released a set of concept art for what could easily be Bioshock‘s (Microsoft Xbox 360, PC) actual successor.
Ben Mauro, a college student taking architecture who’s a year from graduation, created pieces of art that are almost indistinguishable from what Bioshock developers would dish out. 2K Games reportedly commented that they “really loved” what Mauro did and wants to thank the person directly.
According to Ripten, the website which originally hosted the artworks, Mauro was more than happy to receive recognition from 2K Games itself. Looking back at how Valve employed a group of college students to make the massive hit Portal, we can’t help but wonder if Ken Levine will work with Mauro for the Bioshock sequel we’re all yearning for.
